Melodie Hahn Hengerer

Ms. Hengerer is a civil defense litigator. Her practice is focused primarily on defending health care providers and health care institutions in professional liability matters in both Federal and State courts. Ms. Hengerer is experienced in all aspects of complex litigation including investigation, depositions, motions practice, mediation, arbitration, bench trials, and appellate practice.

In addition to medical malpractice defense, Ms. Hengerer also has experience litigating commercial and business disputes. In this regard, Ms. Hengerer has represented business entities and individuals in a wide variety of complex commercial matters involving breach of contract, fraud, SEC claims, other business torts and general liability matters.

Before joining the firm, Ms. Hengerer was an Assistant Solicitor for the Baltimore City Law Department where she represented the Mayor and City Council and each of the City’s agencies in all aspects of State and Federal civil and complex matters. She has extensive experience litigating claims arising under the Local Government Tort Claims Act, and has represented Baltimore City and individual police officers with regard to claims arising under 42 U.S.C. §1983.  Prior to her time with Baltimore City, Ms. Hengerer practiced as a litigation associate with a large law firm in the District of Columbia where she primarily represented and advised carriers in insurance coverage matters.
